The New Brunswick Registered Music Teachers' Association:
♫ Was organized in 1950 with a Bill of Incorporation passed in 1961.
♫ Is affiliated with the Canadian Federation of Music Teachers’ Associations since 1954.
♫ Continues to promote high music and academic qualifications of its members.
♫ Continues to encourage the use of new music, Canadian Contemporary music and
progressive ideas on the teaching of music.
♫ Has been active in lobbying for school music credits to recognize the work done by
those students who study music privately.
♫ Has hosted three CFMTA national conventions: 1961, 1983, 2009.
♫ Has many members who have been and currently are active board members and
volunteers with local music teachers’ association branches, the national music teachers
federation as well as local, provincial and the national music festivals.
