Survey of NBRMTA Membership 2020 – New Brunswick Registered Music Teachers’ Association

New Brunswick Registered Music Teachers’ Association is an organization established to provide leadership in music education across New Brunswick. As our culture changes, our organization needs to reflect these changes in order to better serve the needs of our membership.

We are conducting a survey to get feedback from members. We hope to find out what is of value to you as a teacher and also to identify possible areas of improvement. Whether it is through programs or resources available, it is important to understand how we are doing from YOUR perspective.

The survey should take approximately 10 minutes to complete. We will not ask you to provide any information that could identify you personally. Your input would be greatly appreciated.

SECTION 2 - PROGRAMMING FOR STUDENTS

NBRMTA offers a wide array of programs for your students. Please rate the following:

How valuable is the NBRMTA Student Composer Competition? Students can submit original composition scores in various age groups and classes from 8 years and under to 19 years and over. Adjudication is given to each entry and monetary prizes are awarded in each category.

How valuable is the NBRMTA Community Volunteer Award? Students earn points towards this award through school and community volunteer activities including participation in church music, choir, band, musicals, etc. As points accumulate they earn Bronze, Silver and Gold certificates. This is a valuable addition for student resumes.

How valuable is the Atlantic Young Artist Competition and Tour? This competition is part of a national program of the CFMTA open to students studying at an advanced level. The students must be permanent residents of, or studying in, one of the Atlantic Provinces. The winner is awarded a regional performance tour. Musicians of all disciplines have the opportunity to participate.

How valuable is the NBRMTA Provincial Piano Competition? This competition is open to students of NBRMTA members who are studying at an advanced level. The provincial winner advances to the CFMTA National Piano Competition held in conjunction with the Canadian Federation of Music Teachers' Associations National Convention. Other disciplines, such as voice and strings, are offered occasionally. There are substantial monetary awards at the national level.

How valuable is the CFMTA Essay Competition? Students are eligible to submit essays on any topic related to music teaching, pedagogy or performance practice. This competition is now offered only to graduate and doctorate levels. Substantial monetary prizes are awarded for each level.

SECTION 3 - TEACHER BENEFITS

As a member of NBRMTA you are automatically a member of the Canadian Federation of Music Teachers’ Associations (CFMTA). Together, CFMTA and NBRMTA offer a wide array of services and programs to benefit you as a teacher. Please rate the following categories:
