ATLANTIC YOUNG ARTIST COMPETITION 2012
We are pleased to announce that the Atlantic Young Artist Competition will be held on April 21st, 2012. The competition will take place in Brunton Auditorium at the Marjorie Young Bell Conservatory of Music on the campus of Mount Allison University. Lynn Johnson and Dr. Stephen Runge will act as co-convenors for this year's event.
The Atlantic Young Artist Competition and Tour are projects of the Canadian Federation of Music Teachers' Association and its provincial counterparts in New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Prince Edward Island. The competition is open to pianist, singers and instrumentalists between the ages of 16 and 25 (27 for vocalists) who are currently studying with a Registered Music Teacher. Competitors must be performing at the Senior Concert level. The winner will be awarded a concert tour of the Atlantic provinces in the fall of 2012.
The Young Artist Series was initiated in 1942 under the direction of Saskatchewan music educator Dr. Lyell Gustin, in order to give talented young performers an opportunity to gain concert tour experience. The Young Artist Series now operates in three regions of Canada: Atlantic, Western, and Ontario.
